3. The Business Brokerage Market

Industry Overview

The modern established industry of business broking has it origins in the 1960's Amercia. today the USA market is very well established and is flourishing with over 3500 brokerages. In England the process is also well established but, but until now there has little to no services available to business owners who wish to exit their business in many other markets. Most have sold below market vaule through local contact or just let their business run down and close the doors.

In the US, industry statistics show that approx 10% of all businesses change ownership every year. Statistics show that Business Brokers would be involved in about 1/3 of these sales.

By scanning all the electronic sources of businesses for sale information there is today a total of over 100,000 businesses for sale in the US, approx 11,000 businesses for sale in England, 18 in NI and 12 in the Rep of Northern Ireland. Using all possible source available, there are today less than 40 NI and less than 80 RoI businesses publicly available anywhere for sale.
